I’m always interested in trying eco-friendly cleaning products for my bathroom and kitchen. I have tried several brands and made my own DIY cleaning spray recipe using white vinegar.
When Miniml got in touch to see whether I wanted to try out some of their cleaning products I was so excited and although the items were sent as a gift, I was not obliged to write this review for miniml. I have chosen to review these products on my blog; all opinions are mine.
I was sent the ‘Clean Kitchen Starter Bundle’ which costs £24.95
It includes:
- Washing Up Liquid – Wild Rhubarb & Lemon – 500ml Glass
- Washing Up Liquid – Wild Rhubarb & Lemon – 1L Refill
- Anti-Bac Surface Cleaner – French Lavender – 500ml Glass
- Anti-Bac Surface Cleaner – French Lavender – 1L Refill
- Hand Soap – Cucumber & Aloe Vera – 500ml Glass
- Hand Soap – Cucumber & Aloe Vera – 1L Refill
I have been using these Miniml products for around 9 months and feel I have a pretty good idea about the products.
So, let’s get into this Miniml review…
A Sustainable Brand Review of Miniml: Non-Toxic Household Products
Finding effective cleaning products that are both eco-friendly and non-toxic can be a challenge. As a brand committed to sustainability and innovation, Miniml offers a range of cleaning solutions designed to tackle tough stains while minimising their environmental impact.
This review will explore whether Miniml lives up to its promises and how its products fare in real-world cleaning situations.
A bit about Miniml the brand
Miniml was founded by Emma and Scott in 2020. They are based in Yorkshire, UK and have set out to change how people consume cleaning products.
Their mission is to inspire people to refill every bottle they use as they don’t believe in single-use plastic or recycling. That’s why they encourage people to refill their glass bottles with their products to create a completely zero-waste closed loop solution to cleaning, laundry and personal care products.
At Miniml, they have designed an infinitely reusable packaging process designed to combat plastic waste at every stage of the supply chain plus their refill containers have been made to be returned to Miniml HQ to be cleaned and re-used again and again!
What products do Miniml have?
Miniml, offers a wide range of products, from household to personal care products. They even sell an eco-friendly dog shampoo!
Some home products include:
- Washing up liquid, which they have in a few different scents like ‘apple orchard’ or ‘wild rhubarb & lemon’
- Floor cleaner in ‘nutty almond’
- Dishwasher rinse aid (I need to try that one)
- Laundry detergents and some cleaning sprays including the brilliant white vinegar sprays!
The personal care products include:
- Anti-bacterial hand soaps
- Body lotions
- Shampoo
- Eco-friendly body wash & bubble bath in ‘tea-tree & mint’. This sounds glorious & let’s not forget the dog shampoo for all you doggy owners out there.

How does Miniml work?
Miniml aims to reduce plastic waste in people’s homes. They deliver award-winning, planet-friendly household and personal care products to your door without all the nasty single use plastic.
Your favourite Miniml products arrive in glass bottles and eco-friendly packaging. You can then refill your bottle with the 5L or 1L refill pouches provided. After finishing the products, pop the empties in a postage envelope and Miniml will clean and re-use all the packaging. You can order refills online or another refill option is to take empty bottles or pouches to one of the 3000 refill shop locations in the UK. Find your nearest stockist here.
Not only do they offer this closed looped system, but all of their products are vegan, cruelty-free and made from natural ingredients.
Is Miniml Eco-Friendly?
In my opinion, one of the standout features of Miniml’s products is their eco-friendliness. Formulated with plant-based ingredients and free from harsh chemicals like chlorine bleaches and synthetic fragrances, Miniml’s cleaning solutions are gentle on the planet and safe for the whole family including pets.
Each product is designed sustainably, from their non-bio laundry liquid to their non-toxic gel toilet cleaner, offering refills on every bottle, making it a great choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
Are Miniml Products Non-Toxic?
When it comes to household cleaning products, for me safety is paramount. Thankfully, Miniml products are free from toxic chemicals and harsh smells, making them suitable for use in homes with children and pets. With natural citric acid and aloe vera ingredients, Miniml’s formulas provide powerful cleaning without compromising safety or effectiveness.
I love their refill options and closed-loop system as they help reduce plastic waste, demonstrating their commitment to non-toxic, sustainable cleaning solutions and something a bit different which is pretty cool.

Cucumber & Aloe Vera Hand Soap
My Thoughts
I have to say, I am impressed with the quality of this brand. I genuinely love it.
Their household cleaners effectively tackle grime and dirt and do a great job leaving them all shiny.
The hand washes are gentle on the skin and have a pleasant, natural fragrance. Miniml prioritises effectiveness and sustainability in its product development.
My experience
The whole experience I had with miniml has been faultless. From the packaging of the products to the products themselves, they were great!
The packaging was all eco-friendly, the glass products were wrapped in brown recyclable paper to keep them safe and the products themselves smelt divine.
By using glass bottles, Miniml actively addresses the environmental concerns associated with single-use plastics. Glass is a highly recyclable material, and by opting for their refillable bottles, you’re making a conscious choice to minimise your ecological footprint.
My personal favourite was the wild rhubarb & lemon scent of the washing-up liquid.
The products
Although I loved the scent of the washing-up liquid and it was a great product which cleaned my dishes well, I just couldn’t get used to the glass bottle when it came to washing-up liquid.
I’ll tell you what it was, when my hands were wet and I used the washing-up liquid I found it difficult to add the soap into the sink. My hands were slippy, the glass bottle was heavy and I needed two hands to use the pump and I ended up doubling it up for hand washing by my kitchen sink.
There is an option for the products to come in a plastic refillable bottle too. I would go for that if I were to restock the washing-up liquid.
BUT… other than the washing-up liquid, I loved all the products being in glass bottles. I thought they looked aesthetically pleasing on the sink in my downstairs toilet (where I have my hand wash) I also loved them in my cleaning cupboard, everything matched and looked so neat. The glass bottles add a touch of elegance to any home while also being sturdy and durable.
The Eco Anti-bac Surface Cleaner spray was one of my favourite products. It was so effective and left my kitchen smelling amazing of lavender which I love! I did use a lot of this product, it seemed to go down quickly but I have a feeling that it was just me over cleaning the kitchen! So, I will definitely be refilling that one!
The price
It is always going to be more expensive when buying from an eco-friendly brand. When a brand uses eco-friendly products and pays a fair wage, how can we expect it not to be?
Initially, the products are more expensive as you buy the glass refill bottle, it is around £3.99 for your first 500ml glass bottle but then after that, you will only need to purchase the refills or take them to your nearest stockist.
But let’s be honest, a standard brand of Cillit Bang cleaning product for 750ml costs around £3.75-£4. So yes, it is slightly cheaper but you are purchasing a plastic bottle that you cannot refill and will end up in the bin or recycling.
The refills from Miniml cost around £15.45 for 5L and £3.99 for 1L so it is more beneficial to get the 5L refill if you plan on using the products. It ends up being pretty good value if you do.
It is an absolute no-brainer for me.
Would I recommend Miniml?
Yes. 100%
The Miniml refills are a favourite among environmentally conscious consumers, who appreciate the brand’s commitment to sustainability. Overall, Miniml stands out as a leader in sustainable cleaning products.
With their eco-friendly formulations, non-toxic ingredients, commitment to reducing plastic waste and great customer service, Miniml is helping to make the world a cleaner and greener place.
Whether you’re tackling a heavy load of laundry or cleaning up tough messes, Miniml’s refillable products deliver fantastic results without compromising on quality. Plus, with a wide range of delightful scents to choose from, including options for those who prefer a strong scent, there’s something for everyone. And with Miniml’s closed loop system, you can rest assured that your empty bottles will be recycled and reused, further reducing waste and closing the sustainability loop.
Miniml‘s great idea has undoubtedly earned my recommendation. I honestly believe this product is one of my favourite eco-swaps. I’m not only making a positive impact on the planet but also investing in products that are effective and enjoyable to use. Plus they are a British-made (which I love) vegan brand, based in Yorkshire & that offers natural and cruelty-free planet-friendly products.
If you are interested in being more eco-friendly this is a great way to introduce some easy & eco-friendly swaps for your home.
