Peanut Butter Stuffed Dates: A Healthy & Sustainable Snack
Peanut butter stuffed dates are the perfect snack. A delicious and healthy treat that satisfies your sweet tooth without the guilt.
Made with simple ingredients like creamy peanut butter, sweet dates, and rich dark chocolate, these treats are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.
I started making these snacks because I was so sick of buying snacks with so much plastic wrapping.
Someone I know mentioned peanut butter dates can taste like a Snickers bar so that was it, I had to give them a go! I love this recipe; it is now my go-to healthier treat without all the wrappers!
And you know what, they really do taste even better than a real snickers.
You can use any peanut butter you like for this sustainable snack. I prefer to use natural peanut butter that I make from scratch but you can use crunchy peanut butter, smooth peanut butter or even a different nut butter like almond butter or hazelnut butter if you fancy!
I bet you will love it as much as I do!
Peanut Butter Stuffed Dates: Naked Snickers Bar
Here’s how to make peanut butter stuffed dates!
Ingredients:
- Fresh Medjool dates
- Creamy peanut butter (or your favourite nut butter)
- Chocolate chips/squares of choice or vegan chocolate chips
- Flaky sea salt or chopped peanuts or chocolate (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Start by preparing the dates. Use a sharp knife to make a small incision along one side of the date, creating a cavity in the centre and removing the stone.
2. Use a small spoon, and fill each date with around a teaspoon of peanut butter, or your preferred nut butter. Make sure to smooth the peanut butter filling evenly inside the date.
3. In a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, melt the rich dark chocolate chips in 30-second increments until smooth and glossy.
4. Once the chocolate is melted, carefully dip each peanut butter-stuffed date into the melted chocolate. You can coat it completely or drizzle over the date depending on your preference.
5. Place the chocolate-covered dates on a parchment-lined baking sheet or a large plate if that’s all you have (like me).
6. If desired, sprinkle flaky sea salt or chopped peanuts over the chocolate-covered dates for an extra burst of flavour. You may also want to add some roughly chopped chocolate if you have drizzled the chocolate.
7. Place the baking sheet or plate in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes, or until the chocolate has hardened.
8. Once the chocolate is set, transfer the peanut butter-stuffed dates to an airtight container or ziplock bag for storage. They can be kept at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
9. Enjoy these delicious treats as a quick snack, a healthy dessert, or a sweet treat to satisfy your cravings.
Healthy Snickers Bar with Dates
These peanut butter-stuffed dates are the perfect combination of sweet and salty, with a soft texture and a rich peanut butter filling. They are beautifully chewy and in my opinion, even better served straight out of the fridge.
They’re a healthier alternative to a traditional chocolate bar and make a great option for satisfying your sweet cravings without the added sugar. Plus, they’re packed with healthy fats and are a healthy source of vitamins, making them a nutritious snack for any time of day.
They taste even better than a real Snickers bar, OMG you have to give it a go.
