When I started @the.style.cycle I said I would att

When I started @the.style.cycle I said I would attempt to not buy anything new for a few years! It’s been 4 years and I can safely say I’ve failed…

A few things have contributed:

1. I genuinely needed a few staples (knickers/shoes)
2. Secondhand although a brilliant alternative doesn’t always have what you need/looking for
3. I succumbed to marketing
4. I bought from sustainable brands
5. Sometimes buying new is ok if you will wear it for years and it’s good quality.

I have bought lots of secondhand purchases over the years and the sad thing is charity shops are now pouring out with fast fashion. I have also bought fast fashion secondhand and I tell you it does not last.

Don’t get me wrong the amount of new items purchased hasn’t been many…but it isn’t none 😝

Gosh I have so many thoughts and feelings to do with this slow fashion journey I am on…

Has anyone else tried? Failed? Actually managed to do it? I’m dying to know 💖💚
